Zoho Creator (online Web 2.0 database tool)

Our district has used Intuit's Quickbase, a subscription-based online database application, for years. It has met our needs for our technology inventory, online registration for PD classes, collection of staff and student data, surveys, etc.

Here is a free Web 2.0 database tool, Zoho Creator (http://creator.zoho.com) that does virtually the same thing! There will probably wind up being a subscription version, but the creators promise there will always be a free version available.

I created a test survey, located here...it is easy! You can even easily embed the database form into another Web or blog page.

Hello Kathy
Happy New Year!

that software is neat -- up til now I have used PHP Surveyor to capture database information.

The only drawback I see of this software is that it shows the person's email who is entering data. Can that field be removed or hidden?? I am just imaging all the spam I would get from my email being so readily available through this software??

Hope to see you in 2007

Jennifer,

If an email address on the Web was not something you would want, you could simply leave that field out of the database or just have users (for instance, in your school district) just put the first part of their address. Also, if you have invited guests, rather than a public database, no one but the invited guests would probably be able to see the email address.

Hi Kathi,

Thanks for using Zoho Creator.

Jennifer:

You can either restrict the view (data) as private or to group of users, or you can hide the email address field from the public view
