The Networked Student

Created in the style of the Common Craft videos (with permission) here is a well-done video about the networked student, Web 2.0 tools, and the networked teacher. Thanks to Wendy Drexler and her son for creating this!

Kathy,

This is a great little video. What can you tell me about the creators? Your district? Do they have a website?

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Kathy,

Interesting presentation, interesting possibilities.

One of my first thoughts was "this could be really helpful for the TAG population."

This a great video showing the possibilities for the networked student as well as the networked teacher! I really like that a student helped to put this together. This would be a great springboard for discussing what knowledge and skills 21st Century teachers and library media specialists need to have to help students learn this way.

Hi Kathy,
I found the video to "The Networked Student" to be quite interesting and almost overwhelming.I'm working on a degree on Educational Technology and this new world of blogs and wikis are new to me. Any advice?

Thanks,

Frank

Frank,

You just have to take it one Web 2.0 tool at a time. Try to attend an online or real-life sessions that someone is giving in which they are going over the type of tools that are available and demo'ing a few of them. You can then pick one or two that you feel would best support teaching and learning in your situation.

(I am doing a Webinar for Linworth in March in case you are interested!)
