For this part of the investigation you will select two print papers and two on-line sources, one of which must not be an on-line version of a print paper. Choose from CNN, MSNBC,etc. Consult the list of choices on the home page.
Copy or print out four headlines and their articles. Read each article. You will use these articles and headlines to complete the remaining tasks.
On a separate sheet of paper briefly describe the headline. Does it use biased words? Does it give a true representation of the information in the article? Write your own headline for this article. Try to make it descriptive without any bias or slant.
Compare the headlines from the print sources with those of the on-line sources. Which of the sources published the most informative yet biased free headlines? Remember to use the FAIR Media Bias Detector to help you identify what they call "politically charged labels, loaded language and absurd euphemism".
