This Web Quest was designed for a high school level class. It may be adapted and used for grades 9-12. Some parts of the Web Quest require the student to participate in class discussions or to make a presentation to the class. The teacher should direct these activities. Time frames for completion of assignments should be appropriate to the level and ability of each class.
The teacher should help the students to create a Bias Detector Chart. This may be a simple list of criteria which the student will use to evaluate news stories. Some students may wish to create a formal evaluation sheet. The purpose of the chart is to give students an evaluation tool which they may use for all sources.
